The pack weight is 19 ounces (not including stakes). I have camped with this bivy in the Grand Canyon (non-corridor trails), Guadalupe Mountains and various other high desert environments with absolutely no issues with durability (even without a footprint.) Since it does not come with a rainfly, I use the lightweight tarp (16 ounces) I purchased for my hammock from Hammock Bliss - Hammock Bliss All-Purpose Shelter. See my review on the linked page. I ended up putting a grommet at each end of the tarp to make it easier to set up using trekking poles.
