The biggest drawback to this tent is that it is not free standing and therefore must be firmly anchored to the ground. Not a problem if your setting up on a non rocky surface. However, if your planing a trip on very rocky terrain you'll probably want a different style tent. On the positive, this tent is very light and easy to assemble with plenty of space for the average backpacker. With the rain fly attached the tent does fairly well in light wind and cold temperatures. I have used this tent at elevations over seven thousand feet in fairly cold conditions and felt comfortable with a light wind blowing and a little snow falling.
